＜JUAN GONZALEZ: Mr. President, in the waning months of the Bush administration, relations between Bolivia and the United States have gotten worse. You asked the ambassador, the US ambassador, to leave the country, and now you have suspended relations with the DEA. How do you see―why do you see this getting so bad between the United States and Bolivia? And what’s your expectation under the new administration?
PRESIDENT EVO MORALES: [translated] Our government, our culture has a very close relationship with human beings. We are the culture of dialogue. ＣＩAのＣはコカインのＣと言われる程、麻薬取引との関与を疑われている。米国は表面麻薬撲滅を謳うが、実際はマッチポンプ的に麻薬を利用して来た。タリバン時代に絶滅寸前まで行ったポピー栽培がアフガン戦争で急に復活したのか。東南アジアで有名なゴールデン・トライアングル（黄金の三角地帯）の隆盛と米国の同地域関与との平行現象もそうだ。枚挙に暇ないが対麻薬戦争は対テロ戦争同様に他国の主権を侵略するテコのひとつだ。特に中南米麻薬は父ブッシュが深く関与していた。だから子ブッシュが麻薬を非難するのは苦笑を誘う。私はモラレスの主張が恐らく正しいのだと思う。
